I recently signed up for a $1 trial to Jack Humphrey’s Social Power Linking course and I want to share a clever little program that he clued me in on. It’s called ClipMarks and it takes bookmarking to a whole new level.
I could try and explain what ClipMarks is and how it works, but I really think that a good video (or 2 or 3 - or maybe even 4) can explain it much better (and quicker).
Videos about Clickmarks
To start with, let’s see how ClickMarks works:
Clipmarks - Clip it, Save it, Share it, Blog it (00:49)
Now let’s delve a bit deeper into the Clip to Blog feature:
Clipmarks - Clip-To-Blog demo (00:45)
I like this feature - a lot. However, I think they could make it better and more useful with one simple change. Right now you can only comment before or after your clipping. I’d like the option of commenting within the clip. Even better would be some SnagIt like editing features so that I could comment, highlight and emphasise those aspects of my clip that I find most significant. And if they could combine that with some more sophisticated blog editing features similar to Windows Live Writer then I think they would have an extremely powerful blogging tool.
Be that as it may, this is still a useful feature which I am sure can help many bloggers (note, by the way, that Jack has a few clever ideas of how to use this feature in his Social Power Linking course).
The next video highlights another clever feature of ClickMarks called ClipCast. I hope/plan to add one to the sidebar of this blog in the (hopefully) near future. Here’s a demo of what it is and how it works:

I like this featuer because it can quickly and easily add some value to one’s sidebar. Rather than be a cute sidebar gadget, this clever little widget actually places something of real interest in the sidebar. I can see my visitors perusing the lastest clips to see if there is anything of value. Well done ClipMarks
An Interview with Eric Goldstein from ClipMarks
Robert Scoble of the Scoble show has a really nice interview with Eric Goldstein - co-founders and CEO of ClipMarks. Eric is clearly a very clever and thoughtful guy. In this interview he explains why he helped create ClipMarks, what sets it apart from other social bookmarking sites, where ClipMarks is heading and how he plans to monetize it:

All that’s left to do now is check out ClickMarks - particularly since it’s free.
